About this symbol
The ballot X marks a choice on a form or a ballot paper, as on British voting slips, where voters put an X beside their candidate. In other places the same mark means wrong or no, so on a form it pays to say which meaning you intend. Unicode’s version comes from ITC Zapf Dingbats, the symbol set Hermann Zapf drew in 1978.
