About this symbol

The black florette is one of the flowers in ITC Zapf Dingbats, the set of symbols the German type designer Hermann Zapf drew in 1978. Unicode’s Dingbats block includes that whole set, so printers’ flowers like this one sit beside its ticks, crosses and stars.
