About this symbol
On engineering drawings ⌀ goes in front of a measurement to show it is a diameter, as in ⌀ 55 mm for a 55 millimetre hole or tube. It looks like the Danish and Norwegian letter ø and the empty set ∅, but each of the three is a separate character with its own meaning, and only ⌀ belongs on a drawing.
